01

Relevance over novelty

Treat personalization as a design method rather than a technology outcome claim. Start by defining what part of the journey should become more useful or easier to navigate, then test whether the experience actually improves for the intended audience.

02

A responsible value exchange

When personal data is processed, make the purpose and data use transparent, limit collection and storage to what is needed, and provide controls appropriate to the legal basis and context. When consent is the legal basis, it must be valid and informed; consent is not the only possible lawful basis for every personalization activity.

03

Connect the customer view

A practical architecture may connect identity resolution with service, commerce, and CRM data around a specific journey. Treat that as architecture guidance to validate against data quality, governance, and lawful processing—not as a universal prerequisite or an outcome guarantee.
